The right starting point depends on
where you are right now.
Select the path that fits your situation. Both lead to a conversation with Carter — no sales pitch, no pressure.
Still figuring things out.
You're thinking about building — in Alamo Heights, the Hill Country, or somewhere else in Central Texas — but you haven't committed to land, a design, or a timeline yet. You're doing your research. You want to understand the process and whether Hearthside is the right fit before you go any further.
- No land yet
- Not sure what you want to build
- Early research stage
- Want to understand the process first
- Looking for someone to think out loud with
Carter will walk through the process with you, tell you what he'd need to know to build your home, and give you his honest read on whether Hearthside makes sense for your situation. No obligation. No pitch.
If you don't have land yet, Carter can also:
- Tour potential lots with you at no charge
- Help you evaluate what you're looking at
- Identify lots you might not have found yet
Ready to see what's possible.
You have land — or you're close to committing to it — and you have at least a basic sense of what you want to build. Square footage, bedrooms, how you want to live in the home. You're ready to start turning those ideas into something real.
- Have land or actively looking at specific lots
- Have a basic program in mind
- Ready to start the design conversation
- Want to see a preliminary plan before committing
We'll draw a preliminary floor plan designed for your specific land and your specific vision. Iterate until you say "that's it." Most clients who reach that moment stop talking to other builders. We're not worried about you keeping the drawing.
If you don't have a clear vision yet, Carter's architect can meet with you — their specialty is turning "I don't know what I want" into a preliminary plan that makes clients say "I had no idea, but that's it."
Ask About the First Draft →Tell us where you are. Carter reads every inquiry personally.
He responds within one business day. You won't get a sales call — you'll get a direct response from the builder himself.
There's no wrong answer to any of these questions. If you don't know something, say so. That's what this conversation is for.
Something Carter tells every prospective client: building a custom home is the most significant financial decision most families make. The right builder will tell you the truth about what things cost, what to expect, and whether they're the right fit. If at any point we decide Hearthside isn't right for your project, Carter will tell you — and he'll try to point you toward someone who is.
We provide 10. On every home.
